My
Assessment (Teechers)
Discuss the intensions of your character. How
were they shown?
In our class production ‘Teechers’, Our first scene
was when Nixon walked through the school corridors and heard the different
types of teaching, (Miss Whitem and Mr. Basford). My interpretation of Mr.
Basford (the deputy head teacher) shows that he was angry and a strict teacher
and that his life revolved around good math’s results and good grades. I did this by shouting
and speaking in a fast pace. This shows that Mr. Basford knew what he was going
to say next because he had said the same sentences over and over again. This
also means that we showed how long Mr. Basford has been at this school. We did this because it
shows that Mr. Basford’s life revolves around the school and the grades, this
is what are intentions were for this scene.
Another scene in the play Teechers that we selected
was when Mr. Nixon arrives late at his first class, drama class. My interpretation
of Hobby (best friends with Gail) was that she was continually eating and that
she had no presence about her/ she was nonchalance to what others thought about
her. Also that she is a shy character that might want a boyfriend. I showed this by the
way I sat, I was slouched on a chair and my legs were wide open. This shows
that she doesn’t care what people see. This could also imply that she may feel
like no boys look at her in a sexual way and that the only way boys will look
at her, is if she sits with her legs wide open. We did this to show that Hobby might
want a boyfriend and she secretly wants to be as flirty as Gail. And these were our intentions in this scene.

ReplyDeleteI think all the lanugage is very formal and you gave a depth description of how you would interprate the characters. I also liked how you used descriptive languge to show the way you spoke when you were being a teacher, for example Mr. Basford. To improve I think you could maybe give a quote to what you said when you played the character of Mr Basford to show what type of things Mr Basford says, so you can go further in detail when you describe how he says it.
I do really like all what you have written and you have successfully gone into depth about certain scenes. This definitly shows your understanding of John Godber's play.
ReplyDeleteit is very descriptive and well presented. you got allot of info in a small paragraph ans went it to depth with the charactors. well done
