Matt Turls Colour My Blog

Our interpretation of John Godbers play was the characters would have a large difference between each one. Oggy would be more of an excitable miky taking character rather than one that would step right up to people and puff his chest out as if he was about to punch someone. Gail would also be excitable but with a subtle flirtyness about her. Hobby would be a self-conscious character who would always look to find her way into the limelight. Salty would be a character that would play everything cool as if he knew about anything and everything. In our scenes we showed our characters I think quite clearly. We tried a little bit of a comedic side to characters like Mr Nixon. We showed the comedic side of Mr Nixon most probably in the dirty magazine scene, during the conversation between him and Oggy. The excitable and subtle flirtyness of Gail was probably shown best during the scene where Gail and Hobby where talking about Mr Nixon coming to the Christmas dance and how Gail was going to snog him. All three characters in the car scene I think where very well plaid especially Mr Nixon and Gail, the way there was a constant awkwardness between them was a big factor in creating a scene that really sucked in the audience, this also meant that we were really able to gauge into the minds of the characters that we were playing and play them as though they were really us. This helped allot as it meant that we were able to perform with fluency and this scene rather easily.
