Beginning Blocking

The blocking we have created so far shows the hectic nature of Whitewall High School. We intended to show that the school had a lot of problems, the students caused trouble and the teachers were not happy to be teaching there. For example, at the beginning, there is a sudden rush of people on stage as teachers. There is choral speaking such as 'Morning' and 'Stop running Simon Patterson!' The 'Morning' is said flatly to show that the teachers are not looking forward to a day at teaching at Whitewall. Another time that shows our intentions, is as Hobby talks about how Whitewall is in a special priority area and has it's fair share of problems. Everyone runs on stage and becomes a character that shows an aspect of the behavior that goes on. Some become girls gossiping, others begin to smoke and some are dragging people across the floor. Those things don't happen at a normal school so this shows how frantic the school is and lets the audience know what happens at Whitewall.

I think a scene that could be improved would be the scene between me as “Teacher A” talking to the audience about what’s happening to “Nixon” and how he won’t survive. I should have played it with more enthusiasm and played it more like a geek by bringing in some glasses and bowler hat; also I should’ve brought a blazer to show that I’m well educated with the English language. How I did to show that I was playing a really geeky character, was by putting on a really geeky voice and pulling up my trousers really and tucking my trouser end into my socks to show that I can’t get dressed properly (in a rush). And I stuttered during my sentences ,and I got scared when Mason barged passed me and I swore at him to show that I was worried about it, then he looked at me I could tell by the physical expression on his face to go or I would be beaten up by him and “Kevin Mears”.

  4. My intentions for when I was playing “Oggy” were I had to be loud and be aggressive to show that “Oggy” was a hard nut and a bully. I didn’t think I did that because the volume of my voice could have been louder. I could have been more like a chav because The jacket I used was to make look hard, because I had play a chav.. I could gone bit more close to “Nixon” to show how serious I was the playing the character. Also I think that I should of made “Nixon” be afraid of Oggy. Because Oggy is to make Nixon be scared and don’t mess with him again. I don’t think the audience understand who I was playing so that’s what I have to improve in next performance were I have play a chav.

  6. I think Jordon’s performance as “Salty” gave valid information about the ending of school life from start where he came running on and said ‘knackers’ this is implying as an audience that he is happy that school is ending and wants to leave with no ambition and no job aspiration. How he should it was coming onto stage with a lot of enthusiasm and energy this is shown because it resembles “Salty” as an energetic young lad. Why I think he showed it was to get the audience gripping to their chair and wanting more from “Salty”.
